Short answer: Google AI Mode is a tab in Google Search that answers a question in written form, lets the user ask follow-ups, and links to the sites it drew on. It has been available in Arabic (Modern Standard) since October 2025. There is no sign-up and no special markup. Google says any page that is indexed and eligible to show with a snippet in Search can appear as a supporting link. Getting there is good SEO: original pages that answer clearly, pages Googlebot can reach, structured data that matches what visitors see, and an up-to-date Business Profile and Merchant Center.

What Google AI Mode is
According to Google's MENA blog (8 October 2025), AI Mode began rolling out in 38 new languages including Modern Standard Arabic, after launching in English across the Middle East and North Africa in August 2025. It appears as a tab on the results page and in the Google app on Android and iOS, and accepts typed, spoken or image queries.
AI Overviews are short summaries above the classic results that show only for some queries. AI Mode is a full conversation: ask, follow up, ask for a comparison table. Both show links to the sources behind the answer.
How it chooses which sites to cite
Google's documentation on AI features (last updated 10 December 2025) explains that AI Mode may use query fan-out: it splits a question into sub-questions, searches them at once, and builds the answer from several sources. Your page can be cited for part of a question you never targeted word for word.
Example: "best way to ship perfume from Riyadh to Jeddah with cash on delivery" may fan out into carriers, rules for shipping perfume, cash on delivery and delivery times. A store with a clear shipping and COD policy page may be cited for one part of the answer.
What Google officially says
From Google's AI features documentation and the Search team's guidance on succeeding in AI search (May 2025, John Mueller):
| Question | Google's answer |
|---|---|
| Extra requirements to appear in AI Mode? | None. Indexed and snippet-eligible pages qualify |
| Special AI text files or new schema? | Not needed |
| Does meeting the requirements guarantee a citation? | No |
| Where do I see the traffic? | Search Console Performance report, "Web" search type |
| How do I limit what is shown? | nosnippet, data-nosnippet, max-snippet or noindex |
| What actually matters? | Unique helpful content, page experience, crawl access, structured data matching visible content |
If someone sells you "AI SEO" as something separate from SEO, or guarantees you a place in AI Mode, they are promising more than Google does.
Six steps to get cited
- Publish what is not everywhere else. AI Mode questions are longer and more specific. A product description written for your store (size, material, who it suits and who it does not) beats copied supplier text. A service page should state how pricing works, timelines, scope and the area you serve.
- Put the answer first. Start each key page with a short paragraph that answers the question, then go into detail.
- Make sure Googlebot can reach you. Not blocked, returns HTTP 200, has indexable content. Check
robots.txtand the indexing report in Search Console. For ChatGPT search, OpenAI's crawler documentation says sites that block OAI-SearchBot will not appear in ChatGPT search answers. - Keep structured data honest. Product, FAQ and LocalBusiness markup must match what is on the page.
- Update Merchant Center and your Business Profile. Google ties multimodal search to both. See our Google Business Profile guide.
- Fast, clean mobile pages. Visitors arriving from an AI answer already know what they want. Pop-ups covering the content send them back.

Myths worth ignoring
- "You need an llms.txt file to appear in Google." Google's documentation says no AI-specific text files are needed.
- "There is special schema for AI Mode." Not according to Google.
- "SEO is dead." AI Mode cites indexed pages. SEO is how you get there.
- "Longer content ranks better in AI answers." Clear, original answers matter, not length.
Checklist
- Each key page opens with a direct answer.
- Product descriptions are your own.
robots.txtdoes not block product or service pages.- Site verified in Search Console with no major indexing errors.
- Structured data matches visible content.
- Business Profile up to date: hours, phone, address, photos.
- Real product photos with descriptive alt text.
- Arabic and English versions of key pages if your customers search in both.
